A Few Quick Booking Tips: Book Early & Beware of Booking Packages

1. Did we mention book early? No? Well then: book early!

As one of the busiest weekends on the Island, things. book. fast. Be sure to secure your lodging ASAP.

2. Beware of booking "Packages."

Many hotels lump ferry tickets into the price of your stay. If you plan to come to the island, stay on the island, and then leave the island and go home- with no trips back to the mainland in between- be sure to let your resort know you will not need your ferry tickets.

Why? As we mention in the Time & Travel section of our website, we have decided on practical welcome gifts: round trip ferry tickets to/from Mackinac Island. Thanks for joining us!

Be sure to check out the Shepler's webpage. Depending on where you depart from, some of the ferry rides go under the Mackinac Bridge with no added charge. Sit on the left side of the top deck for best views.

Mission Point Resort

As many of you will take one look at the Island and realize you would like to make this your summer vacation destination, (Mrs. Maisel approved) we hope you consider staying with us at Mission Point Resort.

Mackinac Island actually has a very helpful "trip planner" to truly make this a one of a kind vacation! Check it out here!

Mission Point Resort is a lakeside retreat on 18 acres of the island's sunrise coast. The resort is home to five unique restaurants, the island's only full-service health and wellness retreat, a marketplace, and two distinct lodging areas (The Main Lodge & The Straits Lodge), all within walking distance to downtown. Clint & I will be staying in the Main Lodge, but the Straits lodge is fully renovated and tends to have a bit more friendly pricing. Oh and did I mention the Straits lodge also offers pet friendly rooms in case you want to bring your furry friends?!

Since your luggage is transported directly from Shepler's Ferry dock to Mission Point, you won't have to worry about your luggage and can take your time enjoying the historic homes and gorgeous gardens along your walk (or bike!) to the resort. If you're not in the mood to walk, you can also arrange for a horse and carriage taxi to the hotel.

The resort was recently voted a Proven Winner's Signature Garden and you'll have no trouble realizing why. The grounds of Mission Point are seriously impeccable. If you're interested in learning more about the grounds or the resort's gardening process you can join a complimentary Garden Tour which are scheduled Saturdays at 10:30 am and Wednesdays at 5:30 pm.

The Bride is planning a Friday SUP tour, while the Groom is looking to hit the links with his guys. Check out the Planned Activities page on our website to join the fun!

We are also planning a fun Friday evening of Glow Golf at Mission Point, and an Island Scavenger Hunt on Sunday. You can find more information regarding these activities and others on the Planned Activities and Other Activities pages of our website.

If you would like to stay at Mission Point Resort, call Mission Point concierge at 231-715-4900 for 10% off your 2 night stay. If it rings for a long time, wait for the voicemail and leave a voicemail. They WILL get back to you.

Although it would be great to have every one of you stay & play with us at Mission Point, we understand many of you will pursue your own options.

With that in mind, we encourage you to check out any of 1600 fantastic rooms in a variety of hotels, resorts, B&Bs, condominiums, cottages and homes on the Island. Again, it seems like a lot of options, but things. will. book. fast.

We also understand some of you will choose to stay on the mainland. We've provided some information for lodging and activities in St. Ignace and Mackinaw City below.

Mackinaw City Hotels & Activities

If you prefer to stay in Mackinaw City, please click here for a list of hotels. Just about every hotel is within walking distance from shops and restaurants- and most have a shuttle to Shepler's Ferry dock.

Some of our favorite things to do in Mackinaw City are to visit the Enchanted Knights store, explore Colonial Michilimackinac, visit the "Mighty Mac" bridge museum, and stop for a pint at the Keyhole Bar & Grill.

Please let us know when you RSVP on our websites' RSVP page if you plan to stay in Mackinaw City.

St. Ignace Hotels & Activities

If you prefer to stay in St. Ignace, click here for a list of hotels. Most hotels are within walking distance from shops and restaurants- and most have a free shuttle to Shepler's Ferry dock.

If you are interested, we have blocked rooms at Breakers Resort for $215/night with a one night minimum. If you would like to pursue this hotel/rate, please let us know and we will send you the booking information.

Some of our favorite things to do in St. Ignace are visiting the museum of Ojibwa culture, and strolling the boardwalk after an enjoyable brunch at the Galley Restaurant & Bar. You also can't go wrong with a visit to the Gold Mine. Ironically, in addition to some of the most beautiful Mackinac Island jewelry, they also have some of the BEST coffee- Traverse City Cherry.

Please let us know when you RSVP on our websites' RSVP page if you plan to stay in St. Ignace.
